Hooting

Hooting is a sound corresponding to two near lines, in low frequency (≈ 200 Hz), with a fast amplitude modulation rate (≈10 Hz) very similar to a beating and varying with the vehicle speed. Its frequency may change from a hooting to another, going from the LF to MF. Its emergence (≈6 dB) in comparison with a broadband noise (rolling) makes it identifiable. This sound is constant in frequency, amplitude and modulation velocity, which makes it exhausting. Hooting is produced by the cavity mode of a tyre.
